10th Class Maths Chapter Tangents and Secants to a Circle Topic Wise Videos

Introduction: A circle is all points equidistant from one point called the center of the circle. Segments drawn within, through, or tangent to a circle create angles which we will now define and measure. Intersecting segments also create smaller segments. We will learn how to relate the lengths of these segments mathematically.

Important facts:
The measure of a central angle is the same as the measure of the intercepted arc.
The measure of an inscribed angle is half the measure of the intercepted arc.
A segment connecting two points on a circle is called a chord.
A line passing through two points on a circle is called a secant.
A line external to a circle, passing through one point on the circle, is a tangent.
A secant is a line that intersects the circle in two different points and a tangent is a line that intersects the circle in exactly one point, called the point of tangency. Secant and tangent theorems can be used to find congruency, similarity, and special length relationships between the two. One important theorem about secants and tangents states that the measure of an angle formed by two secants, a secant and a tangent, or two tangents intersecting in the interior of a circle is equal to one-half the difference of the measures of the intercepted arcs;
