Government have decided to celebrate Maharshi Valmiki Jayanthi on Aswayuja Full Moon Day (Pournami) as State Function this year also falls on 24.10.2018 (Wednesday).
Maharshi Valmiki was a famous Sanskrit poet in the country. As a poet, his contributions were enormous.Valmiki wrote the Ramayana, an extremely lengthy portion of the Hindu scriptures that is put in the style of epic poetry.It was originally written in Sanskrit and contains an astounding 24,000 verses. The precise date of the birth of this great poet is not known. People entrust that he survived in the similar period of Lord Rama. The birthday of Maharshi Valmiki is usually observed on Ashwin Purnima according to Hindu lunar calendar.
